History of North Carolina Blue Star Mothers of America
NC Chapter #1 began as a group of Army
Moms back in the late 90's. The group
banded together long before 9/11
or Afghanistan or Iraq. We came
together through the Internet in
a support group for moms with
kids on active duty in the US
Army. In May, 2002, a small band
of the group traveled to
Washington DC, for Memorial Day
weekend. While there, we met and
were welcomed by the National
Officers of the Blue Star
Mothers. They took us under
their wings and showed us that
we would make it through this
life as a Military Mom. We now
have members from every branch
of military service in many
states. God Bless Our Kids and
Send Them Home Safe and
Soon.
North Carolina Blue Star Mothers has grown by leaps
and bounds, where just a short while ago we were down to 5 members
and one Chapter to now more than 100 members and ten Chapters across the
state of North Carolina. Our mission is simple - we support
our Children and the mission they are doing.
Our coverage area includes the following counties: Wake, Johnston, Wayne, Wilson, Lee, Harnett, Cumberland, and Sampson
